Authorise your Australian tax agent: ATO online linking
Why linking is needed

After ATO authorisation, we can formally act for the entity tax accounts

Sole traders generally do not need this entity authorisation process. It is usually required for companies, family trusts and fixed unit trusts. Before linking is completed, a tax agent usually cannot view accounts, lodge BAS/IAS, deal with notices or discuss entity tax matters with the ATO.

Steps

Complete tax agent authorisation under ATO requirements

These are the usual steps for most business and entity clients. ATO screens may vary depending on account access, entity type or system updates.

01

Set up myID on your phone

myID is used to access government business services. Confirm your phone, email and identity documents are ready before you start.

02

Link the ABN in RAM

The authorised person needs to be linked to the company, family trust or fixed unit trust ABN in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).

03

Log in to ATO Online services for business

After entering the portal, confirm you are viewing the correct ABN or entity before continuing with agent linking.

04

Select the tax agent and submit

Choose the tax agent option, then enter Tax Way Group Pty Ltd or tax agent number 29288007 and select the account scope.

05

Tell us once it is complete

Authorisation usually takes effect after submission. Send us the entity details so we can confirm access from our side.

ATO agent linking FAQs

Why is agent linking required?

The ATO requires business and entity clients to formally authorise tax agents before the agent can access and act on relevant tax accounts.

Do sole traders need this process?

Sole traders and ordinary individual tax return clients generally do not need this entity authorisation process.

What happens after linking?

We confirm access and then proceed with BAS, tax return, ATO notice or account communication work as agreed.
